This stunning one-level dwelling nestled in the heart of Yellow Rock – an area susceptible to bushfires – boasts an ingenious design that ensures natural sunlight infiltrates all its living spaces and bedrooms. Using a pavilion-style concept, the house has a sheltered walkway connecting different sections. What’s more, the project team adeptly met their clients’ disparate aesthetic preferences: while one craved a contemporary abode, the other dreamed of an old-world stone villa. Employing creative materials and smart forms, the result achieved both styles. Plus, thanks to sunshades and pergolas, this pavilion house doesn’t only let the sun warm up interiors throughout the day but also shields residents from the fierce afternoon heat during summers.
